Regular gynecological checkups are the preventive health measures that have had the greatest impact on our society.

Thanks to this health habit, the following has been achieved:

  • Drastically reduce the incidence and mortality of certain gynecological cancers, such as cervical, breast, and ovarian cancers.
  • Achieving significant improvements in the reproductive health of many women. Specifically, by preventing unwanted pregnancies by prescribing the most appropriate contraceptive method for each patient. Likewise, by preventing potential sexually transmitted diseases through proper health education.
  • Improve women's quality of life at different stages of their lives, for example, during menopause. By adopting healthy dietary and lifestyle habits that reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

The gynecological check-up should consist of:

  • a cytology or HPV (human papillomavirus) detection test,
  • a gynecological examination
  • and a transvaginal ultrasound.

These tests should be tailored to each patient's circumstances and age. In our opinion, annual mammograms are recommended starting at age 40.

With all this, we consider periodic gynecological check-ups to be crucial for all women from the age of 20 or upon beginning sexual activity.
